Gpixel expands its industrial global shutter GMAX portfolio with GMAX4416 – a 1.6” 4096 x 4096 sensor with a 4.4 µm pixel size.

date:2024-09-11

September 11th, 2024, Changchun, China Gpixel announces a new large pixel CMOS sensor with the GMAX4416, a 4096 x 4096 resolution, 4.4 μm global shutter pixel sensor running 80 fps at 12 bits per pixel. The large pixel size, 1.6” optical format, and square aspect ratio maximizes photon capture and viewing area for popular lens mount in industrial and scientific cameras.

Standard dynamic range is 68.7 dB, with an additional dual gain HDR mode achieving 73.9 dB. The temporal noise floor is 3.0 e‾, and the 4.4 μm global shutter pixel offers a 15 ke‾ full well capacity giving 41.8 dB SNR. On-chip analog binning increases the sensor full well capacity to 60 ke- and 47.8 dB SNR. Peak quantum efficiency is 71% @ 530 nm and 33% @ 850 nm due to its optimized NIR process.

Figure 1: GMAX4416 quantum efficiency peaks at 530 nm at 71%. At 800 nm the QE is over 46%.

Data is read out over 32 pairs of sLVDS at 600 MHz. The sensor is packaged in a 31.7 x 34.0 mm, 152-pins μPGA with sub 1500 mW power consumption.

“GMAX4416 is a large pixel global shutter sensor in a popular 4k by 4k resolution running at 80 frames per second for high speed imaging. The square aspect ratio maximizes the lens mount viewing area, benefiting industrial inspection, volumetric capture, and microscopy applications. The large pixel size and dual gain HDR mode makes the sensor perform brilliantly in difficult lighting situations. Our RedFox NIR optimization technology pushes sensor response to over 30% in the near infra-red wavelength” says Wim Wuyts, Gpixel’s Chief Commercial Officer.

GMAX4416 is available now, including demo systems.
